Job Description:
The Security Officer is responsible for protecting and safeguarding all hotel guests and employees, their belongings and all hotel assets. Respond rapidly to requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance in a professional and hospitable manner. Responsibility of obtaining all loss reports, investigate, follow-up and determine course of action and then communicate such determination. Minimize future losses through analysis, training, on-going and scheduled safety and security reviews and employee awareness programs. Knowledge of use of AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) a plus. Ability to work a flexible shift including late nights, weekends and holidays is required.

- Ability to clearly and pleasurably communicate in English with guests, visitors, management and co-workers to their understanding, both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to prepare accurate and concise reports on all incidents.
- Ability to input and access data in Security computers.
- Ability to understand guest inquires and provide responses.
- Ability to alert at all times and respond immediately to all calls received.
- Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions while remaining calm.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up.
- Ability to enforce hotel policies and procedures with guests and employees as well as with pertinent local, state and federal laws.
- Ability to work well under pressure and focus attention on details.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and hotel information.
- Ability to maintain certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to remain stationary at assigned post for extended periods of time.
- Ability to understand and follow all aspects of the hotel's emergency and loss control procedures.
- Ability to read and write in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Fire Safety Director Certificate preferred.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
